Troop 79 Scouts,
This page will assist you in rank advancement and allow you to request a Scoutmaster Conference or Board of Review when you believe you are ready, as well as complete paperwork for Life Projects. Here are some important points to remember:
- Review your Boy Scout Handbook regularly to keep track of your rank advancements. In the back of the book and on the left side of the requirements, check off what you have accomplished and ask an older Scout or Leader to sign for your accomplishment.
- Visit http://www.scoutbook.com and login with your access information to see the latest information the Troop has on your advancement record.
- Prior to your request for a conference or review, you must have turned in all details for the rank advancement by presenting the completed requirements as documented in your scout handbook to Ms. Sandra Duca, the advancement chair.
- You must be prepared to show your handbook to the Scoutmaster and your Board of Review team.
- Of course, regardless of the meeting type you request, you must present yourself in complete, full uniform.
- Available Boards of Review dates are posted on the troop calendar (see link above). Scouts should submit a meeting request form at least one week prior to the scheduled review.
Life Rank Service Project
A purpose of Troop 79 is to guide Scouts toward the rank of Eagle Scout. Part of that success comes from the learning that occurs as a Scout gives service while advancing through the ranks for Star and Life. Any service hours benefiting the community can qualify for Star Rank. As a part of the six (6) hour service project requirement for Life rank, a Scout is expected to initiate his own project in order to begin to learn the elements of planning and leadership that will be needed for his Eagle service project. The Scout-initiated service project must meet the six (6) hour requirement for Life. This can include one hour for planning and summarizing and should allow for 5 hours of participation by fellow Scouts and give the Life candidate an opportunity to show leadership. This worksheet is designed as a planning and evaluation tool for the Scout, and will assist both the Scoutmaster and the Board of Review in guiding the Scout’s development toward Eagle readiness.
