Troop 79’s Birmingham Boulders Annual Lock in

Every year Troop 79 takes a trip to Birmingham Boulders. This year we had a fantastic time and had lots of old and new scouts come and have fun. Scouts Rex and Davis both agreed that it was fun and that they also had a great time. Overall the Birmingham Boulders lock in was a great success and all the scouts had a good time.

Troop 79’s Court of Honor Ceremony-Held on Sun., April 17th

Troop 79’s Court of Honors are very special. They include the awarding of rank and merit badges, as well as recognition of what each scout has done since the last Court of Honor. According to scouts Max and Luke, they agreed that the Court of Honor went well and it was a very nice ceremony. In Troop 79 we have great involvement from scouts and always have many scouts either advance in rank or get many merit badges.

This was our first court of honor of 2020 due to Covid-19 We have had many scouts reach higher and higher over this quarantine. We also had two adults complete wood badge and a representative from wood badge came and awarded it to them. We also coronated our long time Covid advisor Mrs. Heath with the “Queen of Covid”.

Troop 79 Scouts attend NYLT

On July 7 Troop 79 sent two Scouts, Sid and Ben, to attend the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) camp at Camp Sequoyah. There the boys were challenged over 6 days to develop their leadership skills, problem solving skills, and conflict resolution skills through patrol games and activities. Both boys agree it was difficult at first, but as the week went on they felt more comfortable and confident and ultimately had a great experience. Congrats to both Sid and Ben on completing this intensive training camp!
