Woodruff 2018 – Tuesday

Another great day at camp Woodruff! We’re settling in nicely to a daily routine of assembly, dining, merit badge classes, afternoon & evening activities. Yesterday afternoon we rafted the Nantahala river, and after a few minutes of rain on the river, the sun came out and we had an awesome trip! On the bus ride back we sang songs, and were able to grab a hearty dinner of red beans and rice before returning to camp and avoiding the rain. A few of the boys also earned their Jurassic Park “merit badge” last night. Looking forward to another great day at camp today!

Woodruff 2018 – Monday

We had a great day yesterday settling into camp. After a good first nights sleep, we went to morning assembly, breakfast and then made sure everyone made it to their merit badges classes. We then had lunch and went to the climbing tower, where we bouldered, climbed the chimney and repelled. The storms rolled in late yesterday and evening, but we had dinner, cleaned the bath house and had our PLC. We’ve also began carrying our troop flag and playing our trumpet in camp (mainly Homewood fight songs!) to let camp know Troop 79 has arrived! Another great day at Woodruff!

Woodruff 2018 – Arrival

We’re off to a fast start at Camp Woodruff! We had a fun and (thankfully!) uneventful bus ride to camp, and arrived around 2:30 EST. During check in, a large rainstorm rolled through, but we were able to ride it out under the pavilion, and everyone stayed dry! After settling in camp, we got our group picture, medical checks and completed our swim test. After that, we had dinner and another thunderstorm rolled through, but again we were indoors in the dining hall, and everyone stayed dry. We then went to the opening campfire, and had a long PLC where the boys created our duty rosters, and reviewed our merit badge schedules. We’ve just finished breakfast, and every has started their merit badges this morning. Off for more adventures today!
