Good morning from a soggy Camp Comer! We had some wet weather yesterday and awoke to that becoming the norm. Thankfully no thunder this morning, knock on picnic bench wood, and the guys really hope to be able to get in the lake at Swimming merit badge later this morning.
Thankfully, we have a camp weather forecast system that hasn’t let us down:
Here’s a view from the parade field yesterday afternoon. You can see the climbing tower in the foreground, the dining hall at the far end and the storm that rained out Swimming MB in the distance:
Here is another picture of the after-the-storm view of the lake. It was really beautiful to see and photograph but the Scouts will point out they would much rather be in the water than looking at it!
The Camp treated Scoutmasters to a special dinner, which i certainly enjoyed, and I was really excited to return to camp and find our Scouts having fun together. If you’re like me, you probably get tired of finding your kids glued to the TV, computer, or latest digital distraction. There is no e of that here and they are finding ways to entertain themselves – the old-fashioned way:
This continued this morning with more singing and fun times:
That is all for now. I’ll try to keep you updated and really enjoying seeing our Troop’s first year at summer camp. Reminds me how lucky I have been to be a part of so many Scout camps along the years: Mtn Bayou Lake, Attakapas, Tahosa, Peaceful Valley, Dietler & Dobbins, and now Camp Comer!
