Good morning from Camp Comer! Really a beautiful morning this morning with low humidity. We escaped the storms last night except the wonderful light show in the distance. Hope we can keep that up but know chances are pretty high today.
We were able to make it to a devotional service at 6:45 AM in full uniform. Yes, I repeat, 6:45 AM! They have actually been relatively easy to get moving in the morning. (Except the older guys who seem a little difficult. So, the younger guys roused them with song:
I am really proud of our guys and they have settled in like longtime campers.
I had a question about their sleeping quarters so grabbed some shots while in uniform:
(The last shot is our older Scout tent before the singing to get them out of the tent.) You’ll notice some tents and some Adirondacks. (yes, shed would also substitute for adirondack!) We arrived a little later than planned and had slim pickings with the other Troop in our campsite taking the nicer tents. Thought it would work better with 4 in a shed, but of course it back-fired. Had trouble getting them to sleep! But, they self-corrected and spread out to some empty tents, thus the mix of tents and sheds.
Also, here’s our restroom:
Not really but had you wondering where that camp fee went!
Finally, thank you Michael Quinn for making our Troop 79 sign we displayed this morning.
Thanks to all adults who pitch in along the way. It certainly takes us all. Asst. Scoutmaster David received his Wood Badge beads last night. Wood Badge is the highest training for Scouts and you have to accomplish a few things to earn them. Helping to get Troop 79 was one of his tasks and we are grateful for that!
All for now, wish us well!
